Just picked it up today. 87 5spd Turbo. Man I love it. Rust is just on the surface and will be gone tommorow and then going to get new moldings. Gonna get it repainted after I have my first track day. Its my first 5 spd RWD car. CAn't wait to be able to take the targa off. Also getting my first mod tommorow. Blitz Nur spec cat back to replace that crappy fart can. It was hit in the front and needs a new from bumper and fender. The bumpers on the way but still looking for a fender. I think it will make a good project car. Very fun car to drive. Has a lot of advanced features for its time. Power lumbar support etc...

I had a 1987 Turbo targa also. I loved that car and was even thinking of getting one for the autocross track. Way to go man...it will be a nice ride!

Autocrossing a 3600 pound car is going to cost you a lot of money to be competitive. I have a fully built race car (mkiii supra) with a 1j and it's cost me a small fortune. BTW it's still not complete.

Who said anything about autocrossing? I road race.

Btw that car is looking much better. No rust ,new body panels. Full 3 in exhaust now. some other mods here and there.

Edit*** Sorry turbomk3 thought you were talking about me.

I was curious what you meant.

It sounds like you to HPDE (High Performance Drivers Education) Events and "open track days".

I was curious because that is not exactly "road racing" and I am always interested when someone says they are a road racer.

How is it not road racing? Im out with other cars usually with 10 other friends and its at least a race between us. The risks are the same. Right now I don't have the money to be in actual sanctioned event but open track days IMO should still considered road racing. Just like someone could consider themselves a drag racer. Doesn't mean the have to be on TV running Pro Stock every Sun. Although one day I'll build a class specific car.

I haven't done a HPDE day. Just open track.

    Better then street racing :)
