This thing is absolutely amazing. I switched over to Macs about 2 years ago when I got a 20" iMac. I almost wish that I had gotten a laptop to begin with... I love the mobility.

Anyways... I used the student developer discount and managed to get this bad boy for just about $2,000... the price of the base MBP before taxes.

    Details:

    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy WS
    4GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x2GB
    200GB Serial ATA @ 7200 rpm
    SuperDrive 8x DL
    iWork '08

Why do glossy screens suck? Everyone I look at looks awesome. Is it the glare or what?

Yeah, the glare is terribly in bright/sunny settings

I love my macbook pro with matte finish :)

As much as I want a glossy screen I just might have to go with the matte, probably would be better in the long run...

Glossy screens absorb less light so they're brighter. However they do have glare problems.

The glossy screen is also notorious for false color saturation. If you’re doing any photo editing/video editing, you’re going to want that matted screen.

Amen. Exactly the reason to choose matte over glossy - not just because "glossy sucks" If you like your glossy screen then good. Many of us, myself included, prefer the matte finish for photo/video editing.

I got a glossy screen on my MacBook, it sucks to keep it clean.. it seems dust stands out much worse.

But I like it either way :big grin:
