Last night I got the screen with the different languages saying you have to restart. My screen had artifacts in it, and it looked flickering. Restarted, it did it again within minutes.

Today my computer was asleep twice and I had to reboot it to get it back to working...

What should I do? This comp is a month old, has a 2gb RAM upgrade I did myself, otherwise nothing crazy...

hmm when you use your mac, are you blocking the air vent ? (are you using it on your bed where it can be blocked?) It sounds like something overheated and damaged things. I would take it to apple.

by the sounds of things you need to be asking apple these questions lol. I'd say you've got a flaky computer and applecare needs to see it.

it hasn't freezed up in awhile now...

i ran the terminal commands to max out my CPUs and I let it sit while I played a java game to pass the time...20 mins later and we're still good...20 mins of 100 percent cpu usage.

now I'm running Rember to test the RAM...so far good and it's halfway done. hm..

did you do the quicktime 7.2 update? that messes some systems up.
at work, it messed up my video exports, and on a co-workers computer it screwed with her flash/streaming video.

well I re-seated my RAM just for kicks. went a week without problems. never have a problem at home. last night thank god i invited a guest DJ to my spot though...

i played a gig saturday 6-9pm outside. no crashes. 10pm get to the club. kid plugs in his external. serato (my DJing program) instantly crashes. we unplug it, reboot, try again. crash as soon as he plugs it in. the drive is firewire. so we say fuck it, let's try without. i play til 12pm no problem, let him get on for an hour. i get back on at 1am, play for a little bit. incredibly hot in the room. macbook kernel panics. reboot, try again. didn't even make it a song before it crashed again and again and again. i probably racked up 15 panics last night. when I'm at home though, never a problem anymore. wouldn't RAM be consistant? overheating maybe? what do you guys think?

i took it to the apple store and the guy said swap back to the older ram and see what happens, but i can't since i gave it to a friend. i guess i could go get his old 512mb stick and use it, but i doubt that's it anymore....not when it'll do a thurs 10pm-4am, fri 10pm-4am gigs with no trouble.

    what do you guys think?

didn't know if this would add any light to the situation. in my experience RAM is more consistent then this.

i guess i'll have to track some OEM RAM down then.
