 I was considering letting my labret close up to get a vertical labret in its place.

    Advice, chew food slow :o

AFAIK - Tea tree oil is a big no no for piercings. Maybe someone else can clear this up for me but everytime I've had something pierced they have said "no dettol, no betadine, no tea tree oil, no anti-bac soaps"
Sea salt solution is always my number 1 recommendation for new piercings.
If I didn't all ready have a lab rat I would seriously consider the vertical one. Actually when I went to get mine done, the guy tried to talk me into getting a vertical one, but I decided against it. Doh!

hmm.. i asked about sea salt and he said that tea tree oil would be better.. and i also clean it with listerene twice a day.. not vigurously just let it run over it.

    no irritations as of yet.

I love sea salts for my piercings, they actually make a sea salt solution that is sold at a few shops I frequent just for this reason. Both my wife and I use Dial anti-bac soap and sea salt, the kep to the anti-bac soap is to RINSE, don't leave it on there.
But, everybody heals different and uses different ways, so to each their own..

    Nice vertical BTW!

thanks, I love it. I say go for it if you want it done. It hasnt bled once and was barely sore yesterday but only because im still trying to figure out how to eat without knocking the piercing. today it feels and looks great.. only major issue is that i cant shave that little patch where the ball is.. any ideas????
