If all the pieces parts cost that much including case, os, keyboard, mouse, then you did ok.

It's not that there's anything wrong with it.
But the prices for memory just tanked in the past two weeks.
And Intel has dropped their prices on Core 2 Duo.

You probably could have gotten faster pieces parts for the money.

I feel ya. But at the same time, it's not like you didn't have to replace all the core components of your computer anyway, so if you were looking for the absolute best bang/buck ratio, you could have gone with Intel with no increase in hassle.

    Junk brand.
    Pricepoint is at DDR2 800
Pricepoint is at the 8500-8600 series.
    Pricepoint is at 420GB
64bit program support is weak. AMD's extremely small cache sizes do not suit a home desktop.

too bad a 7900GS is a far better card than a 8500. any 7600GT is better than an 8600GT, and a 7900GS is much better than a 7600GT.

But the rest i agree with.

I agree, but this isn't defined as a gaming rig. I picked the DX10 card for a combination of performance, longevity, and value. Gaming rigs should definitely be using a 7600GS - 79xx card or an 8800.

What I said wasn't false anyhow. Those 8xxx cards are just underperforming their 7xxx counterparts but are actually cheaper.
