'03, only 50k miles. For being a land yacht (~4500 pounds), it is extremely quick and agile. 0-60 in ~4.5, and 1/4 in mid 12s. And it sounds like a beast.

The S55 is longer (by almost a foot), a couple inches wider, and packs ~30 more horsepower. But it also weighs a couple hundred pounds more. I have never driven the E55, but I imagine that it handles a little bit more nimble. They both share the same supercharged 5.5L V8, so I am guessing that they share a lot of the same power characteristics.

    really nice

why didnt you get a E class?

i imagine the S would depreciate far quicker, no one wants used high end luxury cars

That would be the exact reason that I got it ;) Got a hell of a deal on it. That, and there is something about driving an S class that makes my inner pretentiousness happy

also, whats the bet that the current E class is just as big as that S class.

I must admit, it doesnt look overly large in pictures, thats also practically my favourite engine ever

It's 203 inches in length, and 73 inches in width. It is huge, but doesn't feel like it when driving it. Only when trying to find a place to park it. Looks like the new e63 is about ~10 inches shorter... probably lose some back seat room, which wouldn't be a bad thing. You can fit a damn circus back there.

    That'd be the 2004+ S65 AMG. Total hand-me-down from rich parents:ugh2:

Looks clean! I have heard good things about these cars 2004+ and up when they really stepped up in their reliability. I don't remember how 2003 went, but the only thing that would catch my attention is their A-B-C suspension. As long as you checked it out and it looks to be in good condition.. you have nothing to worry about.

Oh and try not to let the car sit 1+ month without it being driven. I heard something about the auto-balancing system slowly leaking out. You may want to google that
