well, i'm not totally happy with it but it'll do for right now. i put 9 coats of poly on it so far. i might take it back apart tomorrow to wet sand it. i just wanted to see what it would look like back together

    what it looked like before

i thought about it, but since i was re-doing it i thought why not. im not really a fan of the red. and actually the stain is called ebony, i was hoping to cover the stains in the wood, but stopped when i got to this color. it was going to be darker

Looks good. When I re-did the finish on mine, I went for one pass of mahogany satin finish and called it a day. :mamoru:

any pics? i of course tend to overdue things.... like i said i'll probably take it back apart and add more poly, and wetsand and buff it. but i have too much time. nothing like spending more on stain and supplies than you did on the rifle, maybe it'll be around for another 60+ years

Removed finish, sanded lightly, then refinished with around 20 hand-rubbed coats of tung oil.
