OK, so this post is just a random smear of different pics I've taken fairly recently. Feel free to rip them apart, I don't mind.

Way to pass. It landed out of bounds in the team box.

Who really cares if it's overexposed? It's a cool pic halfway to a touchdown.

    Angry mob much?

Our star player contemplating the night, one of his first in a month where he'll actually see some game time.

OMFG a band!? Yes, A band.

Nice, I like the touchdown run photo...especially the opponent on the bottom left's face!

You need to back up a little bit. Create some negative space apart from the action going on.
Imagine knowing a little bit more about the game, what every player is doing at that moment in time. you want to capture the game.with the player in it.

    Examples:
" Our star player contemplating the night, one of his first in a month where he'll actually see some game time." - If you showed the game you would have made an amazing connection with the last sentence in your title.
" Who really cares if it's overexposed? It's a cool pic halfway to a touchdown." - Imagine this with full bodies sprawled out behind him. looking at him or reaching.
" Rawr." Imagine this image with the crowds reaction.

A little bit more to look at and you have amazing photos. cheers.

How impressed are the football players with your flash?

They don't mind, I've talked with the coach who had already asked. To be honest, I'd love to shoot without the flash and get usable results, but they're dark and overcontrasty and really just piss me off. So, I use flash. I don't love the look compared to available light, but it's sure as hell easier to white balance.
