My monitor has scanlines help

    I have a Philips 109s and the thing has a scanlines problem. what can cause this? and what can fix this?

    make sure you have the refresh rate on the vid adapter is set right. you probably dont want it interlace mode, which sounds like what you may be seeing.

    With CRT monitors, it's best to set the refresh rate to a multiple of 15Hz (60, 75, 120, etc.) because the lights in your house run on electricity that alternates at 60Hz. If the screen and the lights are flickering at different rates, you will see scanlines. It's the same effect that makes car wheels look like they're spinning backwards when you look at them on TV.

    If you use fluorescent lights, try to have more than one lamp on at the same time; fluorescent lights flicker really badly compared to regular lightbulbs, but multiple lamps will lessen the flickering effect.
