Today my wallet got stolen. $25 + 2 cc's. I can't cancel the CC's till monday unfortunately cuz the banks are closed completely. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. I heard that if you lose your military ID or it gets stolen, you get an article 15. Is this true? How can I prevent it? What should I do?

I'd probably expect a counseling statement at least. Not sure about the art 15.

    LOL. No.

great thing, OSI will investigate for you. Not that you'll really get it back but its a federal crime to steal your military ID. LOL.

Tell your supervision, get a new ID. no Article 15.

One of my guys, e-4, got mugged and had his wallet stolen. They quickly found he had $0 and threw his wallet to the ground. I told him to not go to that part of town alone and made him tell OSI; that was all.

oh yea. call and cancel your CC. they are open 24/7. you dont call the bank, you call MC/Visa/Discover/etc go look at your last bill for the number.

also if you haven't already get a police report with the local PD. You might need that to show your command.

Definitely go file a police report. Your military ID has your social, your birthdate, your picture, your signature. You need to protect yourself against possible identity theft down the road.

Go to www.freecreditreport.com or to one of the big 3 credit bureaus online.

    Experian
    Equifax
    Transunion

Place a FRAUD ALERT on your social security number. In that if anyone tries to use your SSN to gain credit, they will have to call you first at a phone number you provide to them.

    It's just a safey precaution.

ummm Credit Cards should have a 1 800 number and be manned 24/7 for reporting Lost/Stolen cards.

As for your card, first chance you get report it to your immediate supervisor, and then see personnel about getting a new one.

Alright thanks guys. I cancelled my cards.

The only reason I was freaking out about this was because some guy in my platoon at basic got his ID stolen. When the DS found out, he told him he would get an A15 unless he found it. He was saying it in a serious tone also, not just out of sheer hatred.

If you really need an id I still have mine from when I got out almost 6 years ago.

Somebody was nice enough to return it! I had it mailed to me and everything was there but the money, and a few pics of ex-gf's. Not a big loss, I'm just relieved to have it back!

No this is what happened, my choir teacher told me. Somebody found it in the bathroom stall and mailed it to me. I don't know who this person is, but I think I have a good idea. She told me he didn't want to be disclosed, but I don't know why as he only did a good deed.

In some cases, yes you can be given one.

It depends on what type of assholes you are dealing with.
