I just realized that I hadn't ever posted the pics of my "new" Mercedes here.....

Not too long ago, I bought a E55. It is a 2006 model, all original, and has low miles. After driving this car for a while now, my first impressions are very favorable. The car is a great highway car with lots of extra torque on demand for passing purposes. During spirited accleration, very nice noises come from the engine room. The E55 isn't as sharp or precise feeling (handling/stopping wise) as my Evo 8, but for a car of this heft, it does quite well. I foresee me driving the Evo more often due to the bad gas mileage this car gets (not that the Evo does good with gas either, but it does do better). I still love the stiff buckboard ride of my Evo 8 better, but the E55 is pretty firm as well. Someday, I'd like to drive a regular E class and compare it to the E55.

Anyways, here are the pics. I will get my own pics up soon if anyone is interested. These pics are from the seller, not me... Bottom line is I am happy, and I predict I will keep this car a long time.

    Pros:

Great accleration for a fairly heavy car.
Pretty noises the engine makes as the right pedal is pressed.
Styling is clean and not faddy.
Stance looks good with the meaty tires and dual exhaust.

    Cons:

    Gas mileage.
I've never liked leather seats in a performance cars.
    Gas mileage.
Navigation is not important for me.
    Gas mileage.
The weight is always obvious with this car.
    Gas mileage.

I work as a porter at a Mercedes dealer and we had one come in yesterday. I really like the E55, the exhaust note is amazing!

yea but you know if you dont get the nav your screwed when you go to sell it. My dads friend bought what is basically a stripper model CLS500, no Nav, no keyless go on it for like $60k, he went to the dealer and was looking at a CLS55 amg and they would only give him around $40k trade in on his car because he had no options.

Also its too bad they stopped doing S/Cs in their cars the noises they make are so hot

    INCREDIBLE!
    I love the E55!

Now you just need to get a new pully and ECU for that supercharger and you will make ABSURD amounts of power!

Sweet car, I love it in that colour. Looks very clean too.

I was considering that car but I just picked up an '07 CLS550 instead. Love the Benz.

Thanks for the kind words. Normally I don't participate in street racing of any kind, but on my way to work yesterday I was able to pull away effortlessly from an Acura TL or RL (not sure which - I always get those two confused) that got a pretty good jump (1.5 seconds or so) on me from a traffic light.

I expect such a win from my Evo as the Evo is AWD, and pretty light compared to my E55 which is rather porky in weight.

Anyways, I am still enjoying the E55. Its a great sleeper car. The cops and routine motorists don't give me a second look.

I am estimating that I get around 16 mpg on premium gas. Could be a drop or two more, but not much. 16 mpg is my guess. The car's computer displays MPG and all that, but I haven't taken the time to read the manual and figure out how to use the computer.

you need to read a manual to see the MPG?

most trip computers just have a button or two to press
