What can I say? I trained my heart out for this meet and bombed in the bench. A learning experience for sure.

Squats went fucking great for me today... 900 was fucking awesome. Warm ups were very very fast and I had a lot of confidence coming into my opener. My form SUCKED for the 850 opener. My stance was a little more narrow then normal, I wasn't spreading the floor and I didn't sit back at all. Still managed to get it down and smoke it up, but it felt bad. Wendler and Lance came up and told me what I was doing wrong and I felt better for the second. Called for 875 and the form was a bit better. I sat back more and spread the floor better. 2 for 2. My training for this cycle was based off of squatting 900lbs. Called for 900 on my third. Came out the bar possessed.... I haven't ever been that angry in my life. Got set up, spread the floor and took her down and brought it up. Goal attained, 900lb meet squat.

Everything about the bench was bad from the start. The warm up room benches were terrible. There were three benches and they all sucked. Outside benches didn't have adjustable racks or hand off platforms. The middle bench was very low to the ground, this made proper setup impossible for all my sets. I went to put my shirt on and couldn't fully get it on. I bloated too much and my shirt was way too tight. 575 touched in the gym and exploded to lockout, I couldnt touch it today, jumped to 600... couldnt touch it on 2nd... had great speed coming down on my third but I got twisted and dumped forward. This will be my last meet in the Metal Pro Viking. The sweet spot is way too small. Beyond disappointed at this point. Months of training, lots and lots of money in preparation gone after three missed bench attempts. My crew picked me up before I could get too far down. Jim came in to bust my balls and it lightened my mood a lot and I had lots of support from my Southside guys and from Sean Donegan of Bad Attitude.

Although I bombed, I still squatted 900 pounds at 22 years old. I'll come back and put together a monster total at my next meet. This meet really lit a fire under all of out asses at Southside to bringing the intensity back into the gym.

Words can't describe how thankful I am for my training partners and the EFS crew for all their support today. My deepest apologies for letting people down by bombing... but I'll learn from my mistakes and come back from it. I got a lot of props from people I've never met before and its fired me up even more. Having the bodytechusa.com guys stop me in the parking lot and compliment me and having the only 1000lb squatter of the Am day give me some props later on boosted me back up.

A huge congratulations to my training partner Mike... its been a long quest for him to get his Elite and he finally got it this weekend. I was beyond psyched for him. It took some years at Westside, some years with John Bott, and some years with us... but he finally got it.

I promise I'll come back in force next time.

And now for the squat video:

I know you're bummed, but just to put this into perspective you squat damn near 3 times what I do at the same age. Be proud of yourself. A lot of the other guys pushing weight like that have been training for 10+ years to get to that point.

    900lbs?

Holy fuck dude. I don't give a shit about the rest of the meet, that's something even 90% of the competitive powerlifting population will never even touch! Never mind the rest of us. Now get over the Jeremy syndrome and get the bench where it needs to be.

Right on, man. That's some seriously nice work on the squat! And you're only 22?! Had no idea. That's huge for that age. Seriously. Feel good about it and use it as a base to take it to the next level. Keep it up!
