first order of business, a case. i've checked out the speck cases in person and while they look like they'd do a good job keeping scratches away they felt a bit flimsy.

is there anything like the speck case that's a bit more rigid or is that about it for hard covers?

any macshack crew have a laptop backpack with a compartment for camera gear?

needs to hold 15" mbp in a padded laptop pocket that can also hold the laptop in an additional sleeve, regular backpack compartment that can hold a binder and at least one text and a section on the bottom that can hold 1 DSLR with a good sized lens attached an an additional lens. other pockets would be nice as well for things like calculator, flash, etc...

is the mushkin ram from newegg any good?

any of you have a carapace silicon keyboard cover? any good or better options?

i was looking at the "sinking barge" backpack of theirs but i'm kinda skeptical about the camera compartment size.

needs to be able to hold 20D w/ 24-70 attached w/ lens hood reversed, 70-200 seperate with lens hood reversed and a 430ex.

nikon 24-70 is substantially smaller than canon version, iirc.

Moshi palm pad. I don't use the trackpad cover.....but the palm wrest is great and will keep your MBP protected.

The only drawback is you have to make sure you close your notebook because that little extra thickness around the latch doesn't let it close as easy.

I also use the iskin keyboard cover. I have a lab who tends to like and crawl up in my lap while I'm on the couch with the MBP. Labs shed and I didn't want hair getting all under the keyboard. Now I've gotten really used to the softness of it.

PS let us know how you like that backpack.

does the iskin keyboard cover interfere with the screen on yours and leave some marking when closed like i've read in a few reviews?

Thats about like the bag I have.
The laptop compartment fits my 15" MBP like a glove.
