Any Mac MDs in the house?

Every time I disconnect my external LCD display and reconnect later (after class) it drops my resolution from 1680 x 1050 and set me up at 1440 x 900 (which looks fucked up on the display) and changes my profile from "Syncmaster" to "Color LCD".

Obviously, something is amiss here. If I powerdown, remove the battery, hold down the power button for ten seconds, reassemble it all and powerup, it works. But only until I disconnect the LCD again (which is daily).

THe display is a Samsung SyncMaster 226BW, by the way. Comp is a MacBook Pro.

Any ideas? I might just hit the Apple Store before my warranty expires.

    There is no solution, sorry.

The issue is with Leopard Graphics Update. Only way to fix is to do an archive and install, and not do the update.

I have the same issue, it sucks.

What you can do is always start the macbook up without the external display connected, and do not connect it till you get to your desktop. That should work, it has worked for me for the past month or so.

And Apple is aware of the issue and should fix it with 10.5.3.

So that's what that Leopard graphics update was for. I just ran all the updates on my father's MB last night and I was wondering what it was. I'm still running Tiger on my MBP. :hs:
