not really a fan of it. nothing seems to be in focus, and I don't really like how the car is cut off. I'd either include the full car, or none of it.

that one could be cool if it was on a tripod and had a longer exposure to show the light trails

Not you or yexy, relax. I've just noticed A&P being overly kind to noobs as of late, stop that shit before it starts.

question for any exposures longer than 30 secs (BULB) how do you know when you have the correct exposure?

IR remote, they're cheap. And I usually just guess at the exposure time and take the picture again if it needs a longer or shorter exposure until I get it right.

    This was 30sec at f4.

Go back, get rid of the car. Frame up a little tighter, whats the point of the massive dark featureless foreground.

If you want to leave the car in the foreground, then bring the whole car into the frame, and bring a light to paint your car.

Multiple pops with a flash should do it. Watch your light spill on the ground, keep it even.

And this time shoot it at f8. 128 seconds should give the same exp you did at f4.

I suggest you to start shooting freeways at nights, start from there, its a good practice.

I like the horizon, looks like you are looking at the Washington Bridge or something along with the industrial district in Newark?

Too much light pollution. A clear night would be ace.
