This is a conversation the owner of the liquor store near my house had with a customer when she came in. He said she looked rather snooty and headed for the wine immediately.

Owner: May I help you find anything?

Lady: Do have any fancier wines? Wines that you may keep in the back for special customers.

Owner: No, but let me show you our higher end selection.

Lady: :eek3: You have a gun!

    Owner: Yes Ma'am

Lady: Why do you have a gun?

Owner: This is a liquor store and we are a target for being robbed.

Lady: I'm offended you would carry a gun. I will not be returning to this store.

Owner: You're never going to come back?

    Lady: Never.

Owner: Why don't you go ahead and leave right now?

Lady: Are you telling me to leave?

    Owner: Yes

Keep in mind I am paraphrasing this from what he told me. We live in a growing rural/suburban area of North Atl and some of these new folks don't understand things up here. I carry in there all the time and haven't had any issues. It's a nice growing area, but he has had problems with break-ins after hours and doesn't want to take chances.

I forget, I guess you can open carry in GA? I think there would be far fewer liquor store robberies if the clerks could open carry.

As long as you have your GFL (Georgia Firearms License), you can OC or CC, but you have to have the GFL to carry off your property or not at your place of business. It's only a carry permit, not a permit to own/purchase firearms.

I love it when people who are spoiled by big companies that force employees to grovel to customers having temper tantrums are smacked down when a small business tells them to fuck off.

There was little positive about my time working tech support but I loved that when someone was being a huge dick and started talking about canceling I could say "If you're that unsatisfied I can close your account right now." Talk about freaking them out.

since its his property he wouldn't need a GFL to open carry in his own store, would he?

  17. Anywhere you have to be 21 to go you are not legally allowed to carry a firearm.

In WA, you are not required to have a CWP when within your own property or business. You are also not required to have a CWP while "lawfully engaged" in hiking, fishing or camping.

In my store, I carry what I would carry to IDPA, Gov't 1911 in a OWB kydex holster. I "make an attempt" to cover up my gun, but I don't go out of my way to conceal it. I would not hesitate to do the same with a customer that gave me that attitude.

True but having one when you go to buy a gun means no background check. Fill out 4473, pay for gun, leave.

From the sounds of it, it's just an oddly worded way to keep you from carrying in bars.

I know, but when you say Georgia Firearms License it kind of sounds like a permit to own a firearm not just to carry, so I usually make the distinction.

In Ohio, we can't carry in any establishment that has a class D liquor permit, pretty much. There are some idiotic loopholes like, you can carry in a bar/restaurant in which no one is drinking, but if I carried into Chipotle because no one ever orders a beer or margarita there, I would be fine right up until someone ordered a beer and took a sip, BAM I'm now a felon.

There's some other bullshit about wine tastings being ok, and places that only have a beer license, and other restrictions apply about open air arenas like state fairs and such where they are selling beer, and blah blah blah. Basically in order to be safe, we don't carry where there is alcohol being served (unless it's a private residence of course).

Ohioans for Concealed Carry is pretty deep in the court process of getting restaurant carry passed so that as long as the CHL holder isn't drinking, they can carry in restaurant/bars. It's pretty retarded that I can go to McDonalds strapped but if I walk across the street to Chipotle or Applebee's I'm a felon.

here you can't carry in liquor stores. but i've been carrying for months into walmart and shit and no one has ever said anything to me like "i can see you printing, your gun is poking out, etc". so i've carried it on myself into liquor stores too. mostly because i don't want to take the gun out of the holster and hide it in the car, cause there is no trigger safety. don't want it going off by accident, even if it's only a 1 in a million chance.
