I stretch for a long ass time before i run and a little distance into the running my calf muscles all of a sudden light on fire and almost make it impossible to run/walk for a couple hours? Anyone know why the fuck this started happening and anything i can use to stop it? Its been doing this for a few days. They arent stiff when i wake up but about half way through my jog/run/walk or what ever you wanna call it im on fucking fire. Im eating pretty healthy, drinking a good amount of fluids, and streching out before and after. :sadwavey:

also i did land funny off a back of a truck a week or so ago and hurt my ankle but i dont think that has anything to do with it.

How fast are you running? And when you say calf muscles do you mean your calves, or the fronts of your shins?

Don't stretch pre-run, imo. Warm up dynamically- do a few run/walk intervals. Stretch after.

Im running at a slow speed really considering im a fat ass and just got back into running a few weeks ago. Its mainly my calves though my shins hurt also. Everything muscle related below the knee burns but i feel it the worst in my calves.

    Sounds like shinsplints, honestly.

    www.coolrunning.com

Go read their injuries section and see what matches up.

    Ice after running.

 Go read up on them, see if it sounds similar. If so, they're not tooo bad to deal with, just frustrating.

by stretching for long periods of time before you run you are taking blood away from those muscles, like elfling said do some dynamic warm ups before hand to get more blood INTO the muscle decreasing chances of pulling / tearing muscle.

Did you go look up shinsplints? DO EEET :mepoke:

Also, if you've been running EVERY day...start spacing it out. Every other day. Crosstrain. Start lifting. Shake it up.

you're supposed to stretch afterwards, not before, you could increase your chance of an injury if your muscles arent warmed up.

if you're getting severe pain doing ANYTHING, it's time to stop and re-evaluate. It could be anything from shinsplints to compartment syndrome.
