This whole day the tips of my fingers on my left has been going a little bit numb. The palm of my hands have been getting a little bit numb also. Should I go see the doctor?? Its freakin me out cause this has never happened to me before.

I didn't know where to put this, didn't want to put it in the offtopic forum knowing full well what kind of responses I will get so I came here, thanks.

see a movement based PT. When searching for one ask if they understand the concept of "Neurodynamics" (ND). If they respond with David Butler's work, go see that one. Basically, ND is the study of the mechanics and physiology of the nervous system (NS) and how they relate to one another.

Edit: Yes go see a doctor

I had something like this happen to me about a month ago. My left leg felt numb, like it was asleep all day, then it spread to my arms too. I had a pinched nerve in my neck or cervical spine from bad form apparently. I talked to a doctor and she referred me to another doctor and prescribed some pills to alleviate the numbness. Anyways I didnt bother filling the perscription or seeing the other doctor and after about a week the numbness and tingling went away, and I resumed lifting after two weeks. I've had a few relapses but only very minor and only in that one leg.

    do you lift heavy weights?

could be damage to nerve endings in the hands if you're not using gloves (i know a lot of guys here don't use gloves but I've heard from PT's it's very possible to fuck up your hands by not using gloves.

 Did i offend the all-knowing ceaze?

I know people lift ridiculous amounts of weight without gloves all the time, i see the vids... doesn't mean it can't happen.

It's only your left hand, not your right hand? When you have something wrong like this with your left arm, it could be symptoms of a heart problem. Go see a doctor.

See a doctor. Could be any number of things and not even related to a sports injury. Have it checked out.

I've had my left hand going numb every couple nights... kind of weird, I don't worry about it. I lift fairly heavy w/o gloves... in fact it's kind of numb right now, it only happens at night.

You are risking catastrophic hand injury if you don't use hooks, man :hsd:

No, whole hand I think, right now it is those two fingers though, I guess it goes from them to the whole hand.

Hey guys, thanks so much for the responses.

I noticed this numbness the day after boxing, I remember hyperextending my left arm at least twice. Could this be it?? Its the only thing that I could think of that would've effected my hand like this.

The numbness is still there along the finger tips and I will be seeing a doctor by next week. Thanks once again guys.

    boxing can definitely do it.

Keep your hands wrapped and, unless you're doing MMA, try to use the 18 ouncers. They're better for practice anyway.

As for the hyperextension I don't know, but I've had hand injuries resulting from not taking the above advice.

i haven't heard anything like that from lifting weights but i have experienced numb/weak hands from riding my road bike a few months ago. i was going for 3 hours, didn't change my hand position much, and i guess it was too much pressure for too long on the nerves in my palms. my hands felt weak, lasted for a few days.
