    I have a 6 month old laptop.

    Sony VIAO
    P4M
    512 Mb Ram
40 gb hard drive with 75% free

It always has enough ram. I could do 10 things at once. But, for some reason, random tasks such as launching IE or clicking View > Status Bar in IE causes it to "hang" It sometimes takes almost 10 seconds to load IE. BUT, at the same time its trying to load IE, i could load photoshop instantly, and do 10 other things. And my little hard drive light is barely on. Its like it just doesn't wanna load it. Anyone ever had this problem?

They are. And they're set very low.
I could have just rebooted...IE won't even be loaded yet, not one instance of it.
So i dont think that would have much to do with it :dunno:

I do randomly check for adware spyway. I have spybot S&D

Is there something in particular that suggests spyware?

just that it happens with certain tasks, related to internet stuff. it happened with me before, with random tasks taht would really bog my computer down. sometimes it's a random service that needs to be shut down, or spyware/adware. have you tried reinstalling IE?

Do you have a firewall that IE needs to get through to connect to the internet? (I don't know if that would slow down the software from starting up, but its an idea) :dunno:
