actually they make more noise when I don't use any weights. time to quit lifting leg? I know some old people with bad knees and it looks like a real buzzkill

If it doesn't hurt then you should be fine. As you get older your stuff will start to creek and crack more. It's when you get accompanied pain that you should really worry.

My friend's knees sounded like firecrackers when I first got him squatting. Now they rarely crack.

First couple of sets mine sound like rice crispies. By the time I hit my work sets they seem to smooth out.

Is it free weight or smith?

If it doesnt hurt you should be okay as long you go past parallel.

Mine are pretty bad sometimes. Seems to get better towards the end of a workout.

Mine used to pop when I kept them straight until I got very flexible in my hips.
