So I'm skipping a few songs I don't feel like listening to and it hangs! just like that. screen is lit, no sound comes out of it. it took me 10min to be able to perform a soft reset.. it wouldn't even respond to that! :noes:

why the fuck didn't apple put a small, push-with-a-paperclip reset button on it? are they so fucking sure it's NEVER gonna go windows on me?

and oh, it's a vid Ipod 30Gb I bought 1,5 years ago (on the launch). has that happened to anyone else?

There's a way to reset it but I can't remember - go to Apple's support site and it should tell you.

But yeah, lack of on/off and reset buttons is retarded.

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds.

If you're going to "Think Different" you have to give up the notions of controls that make sense.

i like the idea of having devices so simple and smart that you dont have to worry about a lot of buttons and the thing just works fine.

i just think it's too fucking pretentious to assume it's never gonna go bananas on you and just hang. it's a computer after all, and we all know what computers behave like.

    .

Just because it's not aesthetically there, doesn't mean it wasn't implemented.

Looking at the site of whatever product went ape shit on you might help? I mean, is it too much common sense?

The only reason my 5G's ever crashed on me is because of messing with iPodLinux and fucking shit up. :o

I've become quite familiar with the reset button. :wtc:

And if it keeps fucking up, do a factory restore, if that doesn't fix it, then bitch at apple because chances are your 5G bit the bullet.

if you reset your ipod more than 10 times the disk crashes causing total system failure (TSF) and the warranty doesn't cover it because you abused the reset feature. it's right in the manual.

everytime you reset an ipod, it causes low air pressure. if the air pressure is too low, then there is not enough lift for the flying head, so the head gets too close to the disk, and the head crashes. this happens after 10 resets.

    try it
