I've been reading over the F&N forum for a while now and figured I should participate and not be a shadow.

    Some basics about me
    • 24 years old
    • 6'1
    • 170-175 pounds
    • Been diabetic for roughly 9 years
    • high metabolism / skinny
    • need to put on some muscle and mass
    • at this point work out at home

Thats the gist of things. From researching around this place I think I have the basics down. Eat a lot, work out hard, drink lots of water, get your rest.

I am still working on figuring out how to eat as much as it seems I need to. I'm taking whey protein and am about to order some CEE pills to help out (hopefully).

My only concern is eating all these calories and protein will also increase my carb intake dramatically, which isn't necessarily good for a diabetic.

I've read a lot about taking insulin in this forum. And agree with the general opinion about it. Don't F with it if you don't have to. I've also read the hype about some nice gains when taking it after a work out. This I do normally, so hopefully it works out for me :bigthumb:

I'll probably post up my 'Day 1' pics tonight or tomorrow. My goal is to be about 190-195 pounds.

Anyways, good forum. Look forward to participating and progressing

you can have type 1 or type 2. type 1 is the autoimmune disorder where your body attacks the insulin-producing beta cells in your pancreas. type 2 is the one most commonly connected with overweight and obese people, as they become insulin resistant.

cyrus most likely has type 1

I have type I, and for me it was in the genes...nothing I could have done to avoid it :hsd:

Generally it is carried down through the mother's side, and for me it is on both sides so I had a pretty good chance. Not guaranteed though, brother and sisters don't have it.

Its possible though for one to get it through eating like shit, being over-weight, etc...and type II are not fully dependent on insulin and the diabetes can be controlled through pills or even just diet in best case.

Me though, I'm completely insulin dependent and take two insulins daily, including Humalog mulitple times a day so I can have mad pumps ;)

    :h5:

It was your thread about the progress in 75 days right? The pics were down but the responses seemed positive :x:

So, whats the strategery? I work out after work and right before dinner so I usually take insulin and eat shortly after the work out. Anything besides that?

There are some diets than aren't insulin-oriented at all. The Anabolic Diet, DiPasquale's work, Poliquin's diet the Cut Diet and other low-carb diets could be really nice.

There's a DiPasquale book in the fn hub in one of the stickies !
Don't forget to eat plenty of spinach if you plan on doing one of those diets since they tend to make your blood's pH more acidic and spinach will lower its acidity. I don't know if a nutritionist wrote about how to deal with that exactly, I should check.
