applications take longer than I expect to open. On average, every application takes about 4-5 bounces to open. Is this normal? I don't think it is. What can I do to fix it?

    thank you

trash the Caches folders from both :
    ~/library
    /library

also repair disk permissions and verify disk. if disk fails check repair disk from OS install discs.

no idea, i've never used Onyx. But this is what I told as an AppleCare rep, it almost always worked.

EDIT: There is almost no downside to it. You may loose a few of the icons in your dock but not much besides.

use disk warrior from the cd. it should fix it. it happens when you add or delete either large files or lots of small files.
