I don't have any tabs in my iChat preference, only the Video/Audio options are opened. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Very interesting problem. What version of OS X are you using? and do you remember what you did to cause it?

I bought my MBP in August so I was on Tiger now I'm on Leopard but it still doesn't work. I never noticed it until I tried to find the preference to click tabbed chat window :(

    Try this...

    Goto:
    [user shortname]/Library/Preferences

Then back up and then delete the 4 iChat related plist files.
    They're named:
    com.Apple.iChat.AIM.plist
    com.Apple.iChat.plist
    com.Apple.iChatAgent.plist
    com.Apple.iChat.SubNet.plist

Note: All your settings will be lost but it seems to reset iChat to its original state.

Let me know how it goes.
