My computer is not detecting my hard drive what so ever. Is there a way I can take it somewhere that can transfer the files I have on there onto a CD or another hard drive?

you can try, but if the drive is really that borked, then it'd be $500+ (probably WAYYY more) But its still possible that its not that big of a deal and it'll be less (like $150) if the drive isn't as borked as you say.

Did you not do a backup of your important information?!

I have 3/4 of the important things backed up.
It's that 1/4 that I need which ironically is more important.

You also might try attaching it as a slave on another machine...

Agreed, you might be able to get it running long enough to get your data off.

Ditto, data recovery is expensive... At the most maybe take it to a PC shop where they could at least test the drive.

Try running GetDataBack on it first. They have a trial version that lets you scan your harddrive and it will tell you if it can recover anything before you have to decide to buy it or not.

It's only like $15, and it is the best software data recovery program out there.

The only reason to goto a company to recover your data is if the harddrive is physically broken. Otherwise you can do it.

I would but it's a SATA drive. So there isn't a slave or master.
