Dropped the goat off at the exhaust shop for the obligatory muffler install. The owner calls me about 3 hours later with this:
"Dude, I am so sorry. I owe you a GTO..."
Apparently after the install he took it out for a little test drive. He said he got on it a few times, but "when the engine revved up, the motor kept dying." He thought the exhaust might be blocked somehow, so to eliminate all other options he turned OFF the traction control. Got on it again and spun it out, hopped the curb, and was stopped by a 2 ft high brick wall.
The wall punched the quarter panel in behind the drivers rear wheel, and buckled the floor all the way to the rail. Destroyed the rim completely, and crushed the laft half of the exhaust.

here is a camera phone pic of the damage:

I would stress no test drives and take down the mileage.

Insurance estimate was 10,000. Nowhere near totalling it. fortunately I make my living as a autobody tech, so I will be fixing it myself and pocketing 5-6000. Not to mention I've got a shop that will do anything I want to it for free, for life.

That's nothing major, look at it as a blessing in disguise, you can make alot of money off this.

You're gonna pocket nicely then... Shame about the inconvenience.

At least the shop was honest and upfront and is making up for their mistake...

We had our Expedition in the dealer for a service, battery and new wipers. They called us and said "The car will be ready next week". We asked why, they said they had a "small problem". We pressed for more info and found out they had reversed it into a wall and were avoiding telling us. Then when we went down there, they wanted to CHARGE us for the repairs. We threatened police action and they fixed it :big grin:

I'm not sure I'd want to bother fixing it. Isn't the floor kinda structural?

eh their story sounds flakey to me.....

Reason #1 why I am adamant that no one goes on a test drive in the car without me in the car. I request it up front and if they dont agree they dont get my business.
