My g/f wants to lose weight...

    She started her "diet" today. I had her give me a list of what she ate and I looked up the nutrition info on it...

    1cup some healthy cereal
    milk
    special k bar
    half cup tuna
    5 fat/sodium free saltines
    apple
    banana
    strawberries
    lean cuisine

    Total:
    906 calories
    167g carbs (mostlyfrom sugar I suspect)
    58g protein

    I told her she needs at least double the protein and up the calories, but I'm not good at the weight loss, any of you guys have any ideas I can tell her. She lives 3.5 hours away from me, so I have to help her over the phone. Thanks

    She does work out, lifts weights occasionally, uses the elliptical, and does classes, like body pump and shit. She just had a CRAP diet, so she never lost weight

    That diet is crap, shes going to eat away all muscle unless she weighs 100lbs already

    Thats good, at leasts she's not cramming the appetite suppressant/diet pills like alot of chicks do.

    At 1000 cals she should drop weight pretty quick especiallly while work'n out. When I cut I'll take in a clean 3000cals.

    Cal/Carb/Protein

    1900/142/286
    First Meal:
    Total Whole Grain - 150/30/2
    Multivitamin, Omega 3 x 3

    Second Meal:
    Chicken - 300/0/60
    Cucumbers + Bell Peppers as veggies
    Omega 3x3

    Third Meal:
    Whey - 220/4/48
    Skim Milk 16oz - 160/24/18
    Nut Grain Bread - 90/18/4
    Omega 3x3

    Workout

    Fourth Meal:
    Whey - 330/6/72
    Omega 3x3

    Fifth Meal:
    Chicken - 200/0/40
    Salad + Other veggies
    Omega 3x3

    Last Meal:
    1% Milk 300/36/24
    2tbsp Flax Oil, Multivitamin

    ditch the special k bar and replace it with an high protein bar (clif/powerbar/balance)

    that diet is fine if she is doing cardio...She doesn't need 100+ grams of protein a day... Probably need another meal or snack to get to 1500 at least....remind her that she doesn't have to lose it all the first day...

    Ok, first, raise the calories to at least 1200 to start. Up the protein to 100-120g and most importantly drop all fruit and that special k bar, they are worthless. Make sure she is taking a daily multivitamin. Have her get a bran cereal as her "healthy cereal". The lean cuisine could hit the road too, they usually are made of mostly pasta and the calories would be better utilized if she had some lean meat, a veggie, and a salad with light dressing.

    I told her about the advice I got from here. Today I asked her what she ate, and she told me..blah blah, I started giving her advice and she got agitated and told me not to talk to her about it anymore. I told her not to complain to me then when it doesn't work. Fucking women

    probably because of the sugar :dunno:

    if i'm trying to lose weight, i want every calorie to count.. lots of complex carbs and protein, little sugar and fat

    then throw in some green veggies to make you feel full without adding many extra calories, plus you gotta get your fiber somewhere :hs:

    possibly, but I eat some type of fruit usually an apple or raisins once or twice a day and I'm still losing. (that's where I get fiber as well as veggies :big grin: ) I was just curious as to the complete elimination.

    check my training log. There are progress pics in there. I just put some newer ones up of my back :noes:

    ACURA TL-S is right on about the at least 1200cal/day. I would say she needs no more than 30g of fat per day. How much is she now and how much is she trying to lose? Is she getting enough water?

    oh you can definitely do it.. i love fruit, so there's no way i'd cut it out completely.. but i can see his reasoning
