so I'm graduating college and instead of just having some ill-fitting blazers I need to invest in a legit good looking suit. I was in D&G today and saw a really nice black pinstripe suit that retailed for 1,100 but was 50% off. What is the most versatile type of first suit? Also I really like D&G cuts. Are there other brands I should look into?

Also, I need a nice pair of shoes.I really like these ferragamo revivals but they're a bit on the pricey side $550. Can someone suggest other shoes? thanks!!

find a friend who works at neiman/nordstrom and get them to buy the shoes for you at 30/40% off

the fits are ok looking, but the suits themselves look horribly plain.

cliffs (but if you really do decide on dropping some good chunk of cash on your suit, i suggest reading it)
    wool
    charcoal or navy blue
2 button(this one depends on height, if you're under 6 feet, which you probably are, 2 button is what you want

I always wondered if one can wear a "one button" in the office.

I think there are a few factors you have to think about.
Your body type. Different brands have different cuts, but if you go with a made-to-measure suit the fit should be good. But if you want to buy a off-the-rack suit it should be fine as long as you take a trip to the tailor.
Colour. A black suit gives a beginner a good opporunity to try out different colours in ties and shirt.
Fabric. I would say go with a wool blend, since you can wear it in most temperatures.
