I figured OTWMD would appreciate this more than the main board :)

I dont know how it is in other states but here you have to take the NPOST test (national police officer selection test) and when you pass you can apply for Departments and they sponser you or what not.

So i got the test results back and i passed :bigthumb:

I hate spelling and grammer thats why i scored so low :(

just curious, do you even need a degree to be a police officer? or can you just read some books and take a test? My school as a CJ program, i'm wondering if they'er actually learning anything.

Police is still split between depts that require degrees and those that don't. For anywhere, a minimum associates will definitely improve your chances.

Unless you really can't trudge through anything else, almost all cops will tell you not to major in CJ as you learn it fast enough on the road and it limits your options when you retire or if you switch careers for some reason. Very few hiring processes care or give weight to what your degree is in, just whether or not you have a degree.

Really, my major is aviation. I'm kinda curious what it would take to become a Federal Air Marshall. Or to get qualified to carry as a pilot for an airline.

Grammar. It's spelled with two A's, not an E. No wonder you fucked it up.

Seriously though if the dept you're going for does poly, I'd consider reading this site and/or the forums http://antipolygraph.org

the polygraph is lame anyway :greddy: all i had left to take was the psych test, but then i figured it would be kind of pointless since i could graduate college in one more year and make more money. so i just took myself out of the hiring process. i can go back in at the same point i left though, so if it's hard to find a job when i graduate i may just do it.

if someone has a bs isn't that overkill for a standard cop?

Around here all the dept's require 60 credits, or that can be waived with atleast 4 years military.

i think like 95% of the departments here require you to be clean shaven or a mustache

    That would be convient.

Me: "I'd like to buy that HK G36 please"
Store: "uh, you sure you're a LEO?"
Me: "Yep, here are my papers"
Store: "uh, it says you were a cop for one day"
Me: "yeah but I plan on returning soon"
