And I will admit its serious enough that I might ditch it!

Basically when doing an Israeli Draw I either have the damn Slide catch grab the rail OR if I grip it to hold the catch I dont satisfy the pressure requirement of the rear safety..

So this may not sound like a problem but Its pretty frikken big.. The choices..

    1. Sell it..
    2. Remove the slide catch
    3. Rig it so the rear safety is no longer operational.

    Anyone got any opinions?
I cant be alone. I dont have that abnormally sized hands..

Yes.. I dont need to hear that the glock has no rear safety, I am well aware of it. Thanks, no need to mention it again..

I think a grip safety is extra pointless since you don't carry chambered. Personally I'd retrain to carry chambered and still maybe disable the grip safety.

I'de say disable the saftey or find another gun you like. Not sure how easy it is to disable as I am not an XD owner.

Ah I played around with an XD but not that much more like fondled it didnt rack it, I didnt really care for how it felt in my hand and not a big fan of the grip saftey either. XD has all the extra safties on it though dont see why he wouldnt just carry it with one in the pipe :dunno:

I thought the Israeli Draw was for the Glock 17's ya'll carry in your militaries, something you practice in your pistolcraft training cause you prefer to not keep a chambered Glock on your person at all times.

You don't need to do that stuff with something like an XD or a 1911. That's what grip safeties are for.

Read up on American style combat/defensive pistol training - youll rarely see any mention of the Israeli Draw, and then only as a measure of last resort when disabled/wounded.

word..if the point of the israeli draw is because you dont want to carry a chambered round (because of the lack of something like a grip safety) then the fact that a grip safety IS there negates the reason for even doing an israeli draw.

i have no idea what an israeli draw is, but i assume it has something to do with racking the slide

drawing a gun w/ a ful mag, uncocked, no bullet with the chamber.

as part of the draw, you work the action to chamber and cock a round, then assume low ready.

i dont get the point unless, as part of the military policy, you are not allowed to carry a weapon with a round in the pipe..

there is no point, see the "Carrying a Semi Auto Concealed do you... " and my ranting in there about this exact topic from a couple days ago.

but yes, it is part of their training in the israeli army. why, i don't know, as most of their training doctrine has come from the US, which i believe is not our policy. i say "our" when referring to the US, not claiming to be in the military.
