    .....and it rained. :(

We were suppose to shoot in some beautiful gardens but the weather had other plans. So we moved it to the brides mothers home. I arrive and since it hadn't started raining yet, I set up out on their back deck. I got off less than 10 shots when the rain started.

We go inside and there's really no good places to shoot but so these are a few of the shots I came away with.

Very traditional poses, etc but it's my first bridal shoot so I'm still learning. Plus this bride is a bit "special" and rather difficult to get different poses and expressions so these pretty much suck ass in the creative department.

These are SOOC with a little Lightroom processing. No PS yet.

were you intentionally putting her head in the middle of that medal thingie? the second, third, and fourth pic just don't work for me. The rest are ok. I'm more about natural looks than poses I guess. I'm sure she loves them though, doesn't she?

I hope she likes them! She hasn't seen them yet. Yes, I intentionally put her in the middle. This is her mom's house and this is an icon that means something to her. Besides, I was rather limited on locations and wanted to try something different by posing her on the stairway.

She's not a "natural pose" type of bride so it was a challenge for me.

basically she was stiff and nervous in front of the camera, right?

To say the least. She's also kind of "special" if you get my drift.

    oh, I know.

I have a couple who waited until now to look for photogs for a june wedding. The bride is "special" and the guy is a jackass. He tried to haggle me on the price I gave him, and I said no. Thought that was the end of it. I got an email yesterday asking for a contract. I raised the price a few hundred, redid the contract, and sent it to him this morning.

We'll see what he says or does.

How do you guys get your subjects to relax? I have a very hard time with this, as Im not super outgoing, and Im learning that a huge part of being a good photographer is learning how to work with people and get them to act natural. .

rather than shooting when I tell them I'm ready or they're ready, I usually shoot in between those times when they're not paying attention. Usually, the best pics come when they don't know your camera is pointing at them.

A softer smile would work better, imo. Maybe lips touching, it would make the mood lighter.

Dude... you may want to consider rescheduling, and hitting your original location. This set is pretty weak overall. :hs:

I don't think the lighting is that bad for being inside a stairway, what bothers me about them is there are lots of distractions.

She only had one smile. Full throttle or not at all. Trust me, I tried everything I could think of.

Yeah I know. I'm not happy. I offered to reshoot at our original garden location tomorrow morning but I haven't heard back from her.

You guys are right. I could have done better. Wait until you see the shots I did yesterday of my daughters bridal session. I'll be posting them up in a day or two once I finish my editing.
