Im trying to build a fairly fast budget computer and i'm not sure what i want yet. I need it for video editing, gaming once and an odd while, but not a focus at all. I need an atx mobo, not sure if I want to go intel or amd. I was thinking about turning into a htpc but i think eventually I'll just turn my old computer into one. What should I do?

On a budget, I'd go with AMD. Newegg has the Athlon XP 2500+ for $92, and the A7N8X Deluxe mobo for about $122. That's what I'm building my computer around.

I've got the same setup, except my mobo isn't the deluxe, it's the normal one. Very nice machine. The only thing I would recommend is that if you plan on using Linux, buy the Deluxe, as it has a 3Com ethernet chip. This will make your life much more pleasant.
