So this was very impromptu, and I did it just too learn and get my feet wet with directing a little.

Backstory: I'm in Italy (Rome). I'm staying at a hostel and I've had the same girl (Brazilian) staying in the room with me. We were chatting and I asked her what she was doing that day, and basically we went and did it together (She was showing me around since it was my first day, her 3rd week). While we were out we were talking cameras and such (she takes pics in Thailand right now for work, along with being a surf and scuba instructor). I asked her if she would pose for a few pics and she said she would, this is what I ended up with. Thoughts on these?

And for something random, here is a dog in a fountain!

Yeah it looks like you're a bit too far way from the subject. Also, first two looks like busy, for example the tree is almost irritating for the eyes, too much stuff going on. The 2 first ones also looks a bit over-sharpened.

Those aren't really good portraits at all... They're snapshots with a seemingly pretty girl, and I say seemingly because your photos are so far away or at such a weird angle I can't really even tell what she looks like.

It seems like you were more interested in telling a story about italy with a girl in it than a girl who was in italy. There's no focus on here at all, the photos put her at a even level of interest with everything else giving me no clear subject.

Shooting up her nose is NOT flattering at all.

Hehe, true.. She really liked that one. At first we started taking these because her camera ran out of space so I put these all up on my flickr account so she can download them when she gets home... decided to put them here for your thoughts. Good reactions so far, I agree with the closeness issue, but she was VERY particular about not liking anything close up on her face and since I wasn't paying her.. I had to do as she asks. I suppose I could have done it anyway and not shown her... but that seems shady.
