is to demonstrate both a shallow and a great DOF (depth of field). I was thinking I'd take a picture of my keyboard and focus on one letter, then take the same shot at f/1.8, 4, 8, 16, 22 and show how more letters are in focus the higher the fstop. My other thought was a ruler and see how many inches are in focus...

The roll gets 36 exposures so I want to try a few different things. Anyone have another idea along those lines?

My second assignment is whatever we want so I'll take ideas for that too, the more creative the better :noes:

how about of a real hot tranny with only her upper half in focus (shallow dof) as she's leaning towards you.
then the next one with with a big dof which suprises everyone

Is it to show the DEFINITION of shallow/deep DOF? Or to show good photographic examples of each?

I think everyone on the planet has done that keyboard shot.

    Option 1: Use your pet
    - Shallow DOF: Portrait style, focus on eyes with everything else soft.
    - Large DOF: stop down and get a picture of the pet with everything in focus.

(BTW, the way you do this is to get down eye level with the pet and have their food beneath your camera so they'll walk toward you.)

Option 2: People at different distances
    - Shallow DOF: one person in focus
    - Large DOF: multiple people in focus

    Option 3: Chain link fence
    - Shallow DOF: subject on other side of fence in focus, fence is soft
    - Large DOF: Both subject on other side of fence and the fence are in focus

Or take pictures of transvestite cock and call it art...A commentary on the mass body dysmorphic disorder experienced by Americans living in a modern dystopian society, disconnected from themselves by their need to belong and influenced by media and advertising.

I'm excited because my first photography class starts in just a couple weeks. I'm actually really nervous because I still don't know what I'm doing. But it's a beginner photography course, so I assume they will go over DOF and everything before saying "Good luck, go do it"

she just wants us to show the definition moreso than good photographic examples, both pictures are supposed to be exactly the same. except for the difference in DOF (example, not one shot of a flower @ f4 and one of a landscape @ f22)

I like the chain link fence, hopefully i can find something nearby. good advice :coold:

yeah all the technical stuff is basic so far but i'm hoping to learn something somewhere along the way. worst case if I don't learn anything about skill at least I will for sure learn how to develop film

I like the piano keys and guitar ideas, and maybe a tennis court net. thanks :coold:

saving my supra for another assignment along the way :noes:

it's an 4000 level industrial design class, photography 1.
pretty basic i think, I hear there is a followup course but i'm not sure yet.

I take all my photo classes as independent studies because I wasn't learning shit. I take them more to use the lab and make free prints. :bigthumb:

IMO this assingment seems like a waste of time.
i guess try a macro lens at close distance. the closer the subject the more oof area
