It sucks having to witness his transformation into an old person. It sucks even more so having to live with it.

On a serious note though, I've started to see changes in my Dad which come with old age.

His memory is not what it was, he often tells me things he told me a couple of weeks ago is one example.

    It's hard.

Yeah, i've noticed it as well.

Doesn't bother me that much though. Just another part of life.

    Although..

Makes me wonder how my folks feel about raising a son only to see him be destroyed slowly over the years due to copious amounts of drugs and mental issues !

Father recently had a big drop in pressure that left him with low oxygen for a good 10-15 minutes (the time it took paramedics to stabilize him) - since then, he's been a little slower and it's obvious the lack of oxygen affected him.

I'd say his memory is about 90% what it was (sometimes forgets little things that he normally wouldn't) before this happened, he's a little slower and more soft spoken. IQ-wise, I'd say he lost half of a standard deviation, so it's not too bad, but I noticed it right away because he was a lot sharper and faster/wittier.

I hate seeing him get older, because I'm reminded the tough times are definitely coming. Sucks.
