Unison + MacPAR Deluxe + Stuffit Expander + Newzbin = goodness.

Of course, I still use torrents on occasion.

  2. What are those and why should I care?

You know, I always thought you were smart.

    Unison = newsreader
MacPAR Deluxe = utility that unpacks, joins and repairs the RAR files
Stuffit Expander = RAR file handling utility
Newzbin = online newsgroup search engine

Basically, you use Newzbin to find the files you want, Unison to download them, MacPAR Deluxe then uses Stuffit Expander to knit all the little files together into one big file.

I love newsgroups. They are just another extremely helpful tool in my insatiable quest to download stuff.

  6. And why I should care?

Your list is bloated. You only need one newsgroup and one RAR utility.

No, the question is why should I care whether or not you care?

And I do only use one utility - MacPAR.

Again, I thought you were smart. You got the attitude, but apparently no brains to back it up...

  8. Because you made a thread about it to share with the world in hopes of lots and lots of replies.
Why would you think I'm smart?

Of course, I know your method is wrong and I'm right, but I'm asking questions on the off chance that you know something I don't. Rather than assuming, that is.

Only an idiot would say something like that.

Is there a problem with unrar?

  9. Another question: What does my knowledge of Unison, MacPAR Deluxe, Stuffit Expander, and Newzbin have to do with intelligence?

    BitTorrent > Newsgroups.

Newsgroups are slow and for the paranoid masses.

If you think the usenet is slow you have a shitty news provider.

I'm happy with my combo, but I'm sure there are better ways to do things.

I don't actually use both MacPAR and Stuffit. MacPAR uses Stuffit without any help from me, so it's pretty much just a one click thing.

I'll have a look at UnRarX, though.

Note the title of my thread. This is my recipe for downloading. If you don't like it, then don't use it.

What I like about it is that Unison is simply an awesome interface and simple to use newsgroup reader, and when I've downloaded the files, one double-click on a PAR file causes MacPAR to assemble everything for me, leaving me with a complete file with no problems every time.

Yeah, it's called sympatico. Horrible newgroups and I'm not paying for my downloads.

And what is so slow about BitTorrent. I got Toast 7 yesterday in 8 minutes. Is that slow?
