When descending on the deadlift, do you have to push the weight forward a bit to clear the knees? When I try to swing the weight forward a bit, I notice I start to fall forward a bit. It's either that or I have to adjust my knees every time I descend. What is wrong with my form? Sorry I don't have any pictures or vids to clarify what I mean.

I'm not trying sumo or anything. I'm just at shoulder stance and the bar hits my knees on the descend.

Do your knees move forward when you descend? If so, they shouldn't.

I'm not doing stiff legged either. They bend a bit but that little bit screws me up. I know some pros almost are stiff legged but I'm just trying to do regular DLs first. Maybe I should video myself but it may look awkward at my "cardio" gym.

you can ask for as much advice and watch as many videos as you want, but the thing that is going to help you the most is getting hands on help. Do you have access to any knowledgeable people in your area? I am currently driving 50 miles each way to train shirted bench at PL gym just for that reason.

How do you find these people and where can I find them in my area?

Are your feet pointing outwards? And remember it's okay to arch your upper back a little, just keep your lower back straight as an arrow. A video would help us help you, but as it's been said before, there's no substitute for having someone teach you hands-on.

any reason you just dont lean forward a bit more? if its b/c you tip over maybe its just too heavy for you, or, you are leaning over with your back instead of down with your ass. at the bottom of the movement its more a drive with the ass and legs, not the back.
when the bar just scrapes the top of my knees i know im keeping good form. by the time it gets to my knee im over enough for it to clear straight down, all the while keeping my back straight, and the bar as close to my body as possible.
