I just starting doing SLDLs about a month ago, and I worked up to 200X5.

So I tried to do just regular deadlifts, and I only got to 245lbs :wtf: :ugh:

One, my grip is giving way :noes: grouch :noes: so should I start to use straps??

two, my form is just totally off, I can tell, but im having problems fixing it.

anyone have advice for a deadlift newb?

Get some chalk if you can and work on strengthening your grip.

Where in the lift are you getting stuck?

I second working on your grip. do towel pullups and shit, I know I can't concentrate on form when I feel like I'm gonna drop the bar.

"breathe down into your belly and fall backwards" setup works good for me.

Wait until the weight starts getting heavier, you'll have to make adjustments. But its better to work on perfect form now so you'll be more likely to carry it over.

:werd: I always have semi-decent form on my big 3 until I'm trying for max attempts, then I'm just all over the place
