    umm 7/5 ~> 12/31 job search (AF)

open gen, preference to physical medicine, mental health serv, medical services... and something else i forgot.

    :wavey:

If it is not that big of a problem, I wouldn't worry about it.

You'll be taking a chance of getting DQ'd for a small problem.

OPEN GENERAL! Might as well told them you wanted to guard gates for the rest of your military career.

If they didn't DQ you, my advice would be to forget about it until you get to basic. Then have someone mail you a set from home if you think you need them.

Have your feet ever given you problems before? Any problems with your arches? You might not have any problems at all. :dunno:

And in case you haven't figured it out yet... VERY VERY VERY BAD IDEA about the Open General enlistment option. VERY VERY BAD. They kinds of jobs you will get are already at the bottom of the heap. You will have nowhere else to go but out.

u know what it is...the feet themselves never hurt...they have a tendency to allow the knee to go diagonally across n start playing hell with my cartilidge (runner's knee). If the foot is supported properly, no issues.

as far as open gen, no real choice, my main choices are all given by interview at lackland (supposidly)...besides, i really need to go b4 my 23rd bday (ive heard what hell turning 23 does to enlistment).

Ive allways found that strange that the military would run a credit check on you.

:werd: But they will deny you a security clearance for bad credit. (yet another reason for me to hate my ex-wife)

yes yes yes...all well and good, but insert question still @ hand? one person told me to stuff em in a pillow case on the day of uniform exhange, color the insert dark blue (while still @ home so it blends with the shoe) and insert them @ night when no1 would know better....something tells me that this would only lead to trouble.

It would be very hard to make it through basic without the inserts being found. And even if you were able to get someone to mail them to you, they are going to look at everything you pull out of any box anyone sends to you -- if they don't take it apart themselves.

I can't tell you what to do. I would have a hard time figuring out what to do myself if I were in your shoes (no pun intended). But whatever I did, I would absolutely not go in Open General. Good luck.

Orthotic inserts are no big deal. Due to 10+ years in combat boots, I have arch problems. And this was not a disqualifying factor for a Class III flight physical, or Special Ops. And if they don't dq people for orthotics, you are fine. Just don't say anything until they notice them. Keep quiet until you are fully processed into the Air Force.

How long is your enlistment, what is your ASVAB score, and what is your education level?

You have to have some kind of idea why you didn't get a security clearance. :dunno:

Don't worry about the inserts... can you run two miles in under 18 minutes?
Don't let that guy that is supposed to help you find your job at basic bully you! They are just trying to fill manning slots and don't care about you. Don't look at the time in tech school as a measure of which job you want either. YOU decide, that way two years later, you may be more likely to like what you do.

If I were in your shoes, I would have asked my recruiter why I didn't qualify for a security clearance. They will tell you. There isn't any reason for them not to.

The military needs people with clearances. There is no way in hell they will deny you a clearance just because they don't want to spend the money to do a background check. Again - I do not buy that excuse for a second.

The only thing I can think of is that something you told them would have automatically disqualified you for a clearance. Again - talk to your recruiter. He will have the answers.
