And he doesn't have a clue. He's retired and I can't really sit down all day with him and show him everything. He tried the first Video Professor series but it forces you to use Earthlink's dopey software and make an internet account with them. We have broadband and use just plain Internet explorer, not crazy software. So, my question is, is there anything that can help him learn how to use it? Something like Video Professor but for plain IE and Outlook Express?

Yes, tell him to go to a bookstore and buy the book called: "Internet for Old People, From the makers of Internet for Dummies"

    :p

Actually, Internet for Dummies would work :)

Either that or tell him just to get on it, I'm sure he can figure out what to do

No... he can't just get on it. he doesn't know how to use the keyboard... and he can barely use a VCR.

He doesn't know how to push little buttons with letters on them?

Maybe he doesn't need to be on the internet...

As much flak as Microsoft recieves for their anti-competitive pratices, they do put out a good product in XP and their internet products. Particuarly their MSN Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer). I'm sure you've been to MSN.com and seen how everything is within a click away.

Setup MSN Explorer and a hotmail account so he can start using electronic mail ! This thing is over simplified even the most technically challenged can use it. Look at it! The resources are all within one click and very intuitive interface.

If he can read english, he can navigate using this.

Tell me this isn't the perfect solution for him and I'll slap you silly.

my dad was the same way. just show him how to click on links, the back/forward buttons and how to "scroll" and he'll be set. i agree, just let him sit at the computer and figure it out. he'll be surfing porn in no time!

my dad: "how do you keep those windows with nekkid women from popping up?"
