Hello all. So out of the blue my computer is randomly restarting and it tends to happen during video card intensive moments (Basically video games). When I get back in it informs me that my windows basically went poof and mentions the file

WERdc92.dir00\Mini081207-01.dmp in my local files area. It is getting quite frustrating and I was curious as to if anyone has dealt with this sort of thing before.

First thing I would try is turn off auto restart.

Go to Start > control panel > System > advanced tab >
Startup and recovery settings button > uncheck automatically restart.

That might stop the restarts if it's an error that's been making it happen.

If it still happens, then it might be bad memory, power supply, maybe the graphics.

Yes, it will probably stop the restarts, but now it will sit and a blue screen of death when the error comes up. So, when the blue screen comes up, post the errors references on it and we will help you.

Just to be sure, run some spyware/antivirus software to make sure it isnt anything malicious.

Your computer (video card might cause this) might also be overheating and causing your PC to reboot. Try opening up your PC and lightly vaccuming out the dust bunnies and play some games with the cover off.

I hope kittens eat your face someday. :squint:

Seriously, who doesn't like cats? They eat rodents and clean up after themselves. As opposed to dogs that do nothing useful and shit wherever they happen to be standing.

I've never had my neighbors' cats spray any of my stuff. But then again, all of my stuff probably smells faintly like my cat, so there's no point starting a (literal) pissing contest.

    negative ghostrider.

Dogs are awsome. They are called "Man's Best Friend" for a reason. In addition to being much more adorable than cats, they have much more positive personalities. Cats are by default extremely mean and evil. A cat will go out of it's way to cause problems and be a sour puss. Dogs however, a full of life and love. Cats hiss and scratch and hide. Dogs, however, lick and run and play. And any dog owner will tell you -- when you're sick, a dog will always come to your side and lay with you to keep you company. They know you're not feeling well, and they are there for you. It's truely amazing.

    Cats are just faggots.

i have had cats that did this...

however, jolly is right. it comes down to this....the evolution of mankind would be totally different if dogs weren't there to help us, every step of the way. we in some part owe the survival of our species to them. I am talking nearly every civilization on earth, and throughout the whole span of human (both recorded and much before) history.

cats, on the other hand...are good for keeping fat women company. hey, you gotta give em that...

I love dogs, and if I had a nice big property I'd have a couple of them.

But cat's open up just like a dog if they trust you.
Or I should say, if you give them enough reason to trust you.
    It's all about patience.

And +1 for how cool it is that they clean up after themselves.

I'll grant that dogs help with hunting, which is totally useless in the suburbs and cities where 75% of Earth's human population lives nowadays.

On the other hand, cats were and are instrumental in maintaining health standards and agriculture, both pre-industrial and modern. No contrivance of the human imagination can catch infectious, grain-eating rodents better than a cat can. Dogs could care less about that sort of thing, though.

So...if you live in the woods, a dog might be useful. If you live anywhere, a cat will be useful.

My experience has been that people who think cats are finicky, unemotional, and indifferent, are the sort of people who expect other people to be friendly to them first -- and as such, cats could give a shit about them. When I drive to work in the morning, my cat runs out of the woods across the street to say goodbye, and when I get home, I almost always hear him run down the stairs, talking to me the whole way.

Just a thought. Reinstall your video drivers before you buy a new PSU. It's still probably the PSU, though.

    - - -

Doubt it all you want, Ebtromba, but the height of the Black Plague in Europe coincided with the widespread belief that rats and mice were good and cats were evil. God only knows how the dumb fuckers survived at all, but at least I know where my instinctive preference for cats came from -- my ancestors were smart enough to know what the fuck was up, and it may well have saved their lives.

As for my own neighborhood, I literally watched the rabbit population drop by half or more when my cat first started going outside. He'd leave me a leg, or sometimes a head, to prove he caught something, usually multiple times a week. He ate the rest, fur, bones, and all.

haha, wow ok that is pretty funny.

but still...lack of cats is much less important than lack of dogs

I used to have a bigass cat who did the same thing.

And I think you're right. He does it to show you he's taking care of his side of the world.

But I didn't know about feline leukemia, and sure enough he got sick from it and I had to have him put down.

It was like losing a family member.

That cat had fucking personality, man.

Thanks for the help everyone. I think it might be my ram because I made the bad call to get 2 gigs of Patriot and I guess it's piece of shit ram. I'm gonna keep looking into it, but I appreciate the helpful tips.

And I love cats. Dogs are too needy. I still like them, mind you, but I just enjoy how cats just do their own shit.

I highly doubt that it's the Patriot memory.

Don't buy into the whole superiority of brand name memory game.

There's not much memory failing by anyone, these days.
