Recently my computer has been making some funny noises (like its stuggling) when I boot it up. When this began to happen I also noticed sometimes that after my computer is fully booted that when I try to open up something (Firefox, AIM, Winamp etc) it takes a good 3 minutes and sometimes more to load up. And now programs often stop responding and I have to reboot.

I'm not sure what could be the problem, maybe my harddrive... Any Ideas? :hsd:

If the noise and the slow access times started around the same time,
then it could for sure be the hard drive.

If you have valuable data on it, I would back it up as soon as possible.

It could be that you have a fan going bad, and at the same time
you're computer has gotten hit with some malware.

So while the computer is turned off I would take the side off of the case and boot it up and try to get an idea of where the sound is coming from.

If you happen to notice that it's just a fan, then you can probably proceed to trying to run scans for malware.

If it sounds at all like the noise could be coming from the hard drive,
then you definitely want to backup what you want saved.

Did you try to take the side panel off?
You really do need to figure out where those noises are coming from.
And if it is your hard drive, you should do it asap.

More or less garanteed to be the HDDs. Fans will quite making noise in under 5s or make a constant noise. If your really unlucky, it might be the IDE channel part of the mobo, which sometimes makes it seem like the HDD is fucked when it's really the mobo.

Emmet's suggestion sounds good. You can also try removing the HDD, see if the noise goes away. (Switch the PC off while removing the HDD).

    3 minutes? Sounds nasty.

One thing you could try is to run a disc utility from the maker of your hard drive.

Right click on your hard drive in "my computer" > select properties > hardware tab.

That will tell you the make and model of your hard drive.
