a little over a month ago. I've gone through the whole process of filing the claim, getting it inspected by yellow freight, and I got an estimate for the repairs.

Instead of repairing the minor scratches I'm going to cover them with a sticker/magnet and spend the money on a new gun:naughty:

Believe me I was extremely pissed, but turning down the delivery would have meant helping the guy load the 700 pounder back onto the truck that we had just spent 20 minutes unloading.:o

I was, but I got over it when I put this plan into action.

Expressing my full amount of anger would have taken several paragraphs and cliffnotes.

Have you considered trying to simple ghetto repair the scratches? I assume they're cosmetic and not really dug into the metal by much. I'd attempt some sort of minor repair instead of putting a sticker over it, especially if it's in a highly visible part of the safe.

THEN I'd use the money to pick up a new gun.

I'll touch the scratches up with some black paint to protect the metal for now. If I feel energetic someday I may move it back into the garage and let my dad give it a complete new paintjob. Right now I just want to get my guns in it, and Thanksgiving I'll have plenty of help.

As do I. I ordered 10 metal ammo cans and 4 of them were filled with mud and water.

What was the estimate, if you don't mind me asking?

I hate yellow freight. This safe came directly from Canon, which is in Cali...I hate Cali.

Plenty, but I'd rather wait until I have it in my hand to divulge that information ;)
Amazingly, it's costs a lot to move a 700lb safe from my house to a body shop and back:rofl:

My old boss got an estimate to get his 1300lb. safe delivered to his house, which was 45 minutes away from the shop and they quoted ~$375 one way. We shopped around and that ended up being the cheapest estimate, the other ones we got were $400 and $450. We said fuck it and moved it ourselves.

So I could imagine that you'd be getting a pretty decent chunk of change for the safe's round trip journey to the shop and the paint, depending on how they decide to repaint it.

I'd have been upset too, but free money for another gun to put in the safe... priceless.
