My bench sucks also know as I hate Mondays

    So I am at the gym and everything is going good. I do my squats with no problem my deadlifts come and go and I am feeling fine. Then I come to the bench press portion of my routine. I could hardly finish my fourth set. The worst part was a piece of dust or something got in my eye as I returned the bar on my fifth and final set causing me to miss one of the pegs almost resulting in the bar landing on my head. I think I am cursed in bench pressing or something I have not made an increase in the amount of weight in a while. It really sucks seeing an increase in everything else but nothing in my flat bench.
    Is there anything I can do to sorta jump start my benching? I have read a little and different places say different things. Everything from taking some time off from working a particular muscle group to squeezing in extra exercises is supposed to work. So what has worked for you all?

    possibly not doing bench at the end of a day that includes squats and deadlifts?

    dumbbell benching

    i assume you have good lat and tricep routines on the side?

    that's gotta hurt....



    ya, today i felt like such a bitch. i dont know what it was. squats felt good, deadlifts felt good. but when i bench'd... 135 felt really heavy in my hands. i worked my way up to 175, but it was a bitch.

    welcome to my world, the ONLY thing that has helped me increase my bench has been eating a shitload more....

    in christophers routine, I've found by the time im ready for my last set of bench, im totally fucking rooted. like depleted. Try drinking some sugar as you go along, I'm going to try it myself.

    good idea... I've had a bag of dextrose sitting in my room for quite some time. Maybe I finally have a use for it.
