I love having new toys delivered to work. Makes the whole day better:big grin: This is a lot more adjustable and more mobile than a sandbag under the but of the gun when trying to hold still on extremely long shots.

And a few of the work in progress, that's coming along nicely:o Finally got a chance to throw some lead at something at 500yds. last weekend. Grouped pretty good once I found the target:rofl:

    Rem. 700 VS .308
    Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x40

Probably going to move this scope to a different rifle and upgrade to something with a little more range.

How much did you pay for the rifle if you don't mind me asking?

I shot a Rem 700 with a cryogenically frozen barrel some ex-Military guy had at the range. I think it was also chambered in a .308 - extremely loud concussion indoors but a sweet, short trigger pull and very accurate. Had a nice red-dot scope on it.

I think it was around $700 about a year ago.
I think you'd be wasting a lot of what this gun has to offer with a red dot.

I got the small one with the extra locking wheel and metal end cap. If you have the taller bipod you need the taller monopod.

cool. I havnt seen that before, the idea is great. 500yds, thats a hell of a range, the furthest range i have been to was only 100yds, time to find some wide open spaces. And thanks for posting up the 700info, eventually i plan to buy a hunting rifle (though probably in 30-06 or .300) and all the info i can get is helpful.

Here's me and my cousin in shooting position at our 500yd range....It's actually the #4 tee box on our golf course:big grin: When I get it set up right I'll try some farther shots. Can probably get up to 800 yds. out there.
The 55 gallon drum we were shooting at was about 50 yds to the right of the #7 tee box with #6 green as a back drop in case we shot way over.
    Cousin has the police model.

I just noticed I was actually on the phone with my dad in the picture. He was checking the placement of our shots:rofl:

Cryongenics doesn't do anything to rifle barrels. :o

So what kind of group did you shoot at 500, I'd like to shoot that far but don't have anywhere to do it :hs:

I was having to hold over a LOT to hit the barrel. The 500 yd mark on my scope is more like 450. When I finally started hitting I had two shots that were about 2 inches apart and one that was low and left about 8 inches of those two. I was happy with my first time shooting that far.

It'd be nice if it started making some money. Barely breaks even right now with the weather getting cooler. The bar helped take up some slack though:cool:

Yeah, I'd like to get a chronograph before I ever tried to shoot far so I could atleast have some sort of idea as to how much to adjust the scope. That's still not bad at all for a first time. What ammo were you shooting out of curiousity?

And if I were you I'd buy some of those Leupold brand metal scope covers, they're expensive as hell but they look cool and actually fold completely flat, instead of sticking up like Uncle Mike's and what not.

Corlokts 150 gr. I haven't started playing with the more expensive 168 gr. target type loads. It's still deer season:big grin:

They're on my Christmas list, but I'm planning on changing the scope out so I'll probably stick with these until I figure where it's going.

I don't really have any other information on it other than the barrel was frozen at MIT. :dunno:
