I'm not too happy with them. All taken with XTI + kit lens. How would I take better pics next year?
Shorter shutter speed.
But really, I think you need to go shoot REAL fireworks. the little ones move so fast, it is either to dark, or all the lights blur together.
I took my pics tonight (posted in another thread) at ISO 100-200, f/11, and SS between 5 and 13 seconds.
You didn't really have any great fireworks to work with. Don't be too hard on yourself.
Try composing the shot a little more and not just setting up in random spots and snapping. As mentioned before, shoot with a slightly shorter shutter speed, they are all blown out right at the base. Maybe a higher f-stop to sharpen it up too.
For the 3rd year in a row I failed to get fireworks pictures. I was too damn tired this year. I got up at 4:00 AM to run the peachtree, then got runner's trots afterwards, then had to work from 3:00 to 9:00. I was egg-sausted by the time I got home.
We did however blow up a mortar in our trashcan which blew the lid off. It was badass.
the first picture was shot at f/14 and looks better than the rest that were shoot at f/5.6 and f/8.0
adjust the shutter speed and get in the habit of looking at the lcd so you can adjust accordingly.
Im charging mah lasers!
