    Oly Arms PCR-16 (now K16)
    BSA 6-24x50ao target scope ($80)
    Federal American Eagle ammo
    warm barrel
slight breeze, maybe 5mph from behind and slightly to the left

a tight 5 shot group with 3 fliers (my fault... the trigger is too heavy right now)

a slightly above average 3 shot grouping
    [IMG]

an exceptional 3 shot group (probably more luck than anything)

    another excellent 3 shot group
    [IMG]

and here's the beast that did all that:

let me know what you guys think.

this was from the bench, resting the hand guard on an ammo can.

i really need to try this from the prone and sand bagged.

i know what you mean about the heavy trigger. i wish they made AR's standard with a double stage trigger instead of that gritty single stage. when i build my M4gery it WILL have a double stage in there.

    nice groupings, though.

specs on the barrel/ammo? twist rate, length, grain, velocity...?

16" barrel (hence the name of the rifle) with a 1:9 twist.. no chrome

    federal american eagle, 55gr fmjbt

i'm definitely NOT opening my last box of 500 rounds of this stuff, considering its sold out EVERYWHERE.

you should rest off of something soft, a hard rest will cause the rifle to bounce from recoil.

i feel you with the 5.56 predicament. that's why i traded my bushy in. all i shot through it was XM193 and winchester Q3131A. can't find it anywhere. i only have 80 rounds left. when i build the M4gery and white oak match rifle, i'm doing my own reloads.

yeah, i know. i'm just too busy/lazy to get a decent rest.

i've been having pretty good luck with Georgia Arms canned heat reloads. they have good velocity and good QC. i'm probably going to pick up another case or so of it here in the near future

I made sandbags out of pant legs :mamoru: I'm going to get an adjustable front rest/rear bag combo but dont have the money right now, I was looking at Caldwell Rock rests but they're aluminum :greddy: Wichita Arms are the cheapest steel/Iron models but they're around $120. :hs:

nice groupings. I saw this over at arf.com

To those that are talking about Q3131A or Fed XM193. There's still some left. Just gotta pay for it.

I just ordered 2 cases (2000) of Fed XM193. Each set from a different dealer.
Got 1 for $219 shipped, other for $194 shipped. Wished i bumped into the later sale first. :hsd:

if its 1000 per case, its the loose packed XM193PD. i've heard bad things about these to begin with, like them being lot rejects or floor sweepings. someone even went so far as to make a thread on ARFCOM, with pictures, about finding a pretzel in one of them when he took it apart because the bullet was barely seated inside of the casing. not worth it to me to buy crap when i can get into reloading and make quality rounds for the price of wolf ammo and make the money back that i spent on getting the reloading gear in the long run from savings in buying ammo retail.

until i start reloading, i'm going to stick with shooting my M1A and aussie surplus.

I got my reloading stuff for christmas and have only loaded 5 rounds, It's been too fucking cold to comfortably shoot (plus I'm lazy). I think I'm going to order a case trimmer and chronograph this week :noes:

doesn't sound right for the individually boxed XM193. cheapest i've seen it is like $95 for 500, not including shipping. i'd expect it to be significantly more now that there isn't much left on the market. good deal, though if that isn't the case.

i'd still rather get into reloading and make rounds that i can tailor to my rifle's likings and shoot that cheaply.

    ammoman.com has the xm193 at $219/1k and the xm193pd at $199/1k shipped.

ammoman doesnt have XM193 in stock. that is why it is grey. i doubt anybody at this time has it in stock. i went to academy sports the day after they said Q3131A was going to be discontinued, not one box on the shelf.

Just received my 2nd "cheaper" order like 30 mins ago. It is that cheap. Or was I should say. You missed out. They had about 2000 "boxes" left. When u buy 50 boxes (1000rds), it comes out to like $3.xx per box, so $169. :coold:

    Great groups

As for the M193 situation, I have about a half case of Q3131A left, but for my main ammo I am going to be using 75 Gr stuff which is better than M193.... I have 100 rds of black hills red box coming and when the hornady TAP personal defense ammo is available I'll be trying out the 75 gr load of that too.

75 gr > 55 gr especially out of shorter barrels.

I will still be using cheaper 55 gr for blasting ammo tho.

i'm really tempted to try rolling my own. reloading .223 might take a long time and many, many rounds to make it worthwhile financially.

    any thoughts? anyone reload .223?

why a long time? and not that many rounds. making match grade rounds for the price of regular old .223 seems to be worth it in my book.

i was thinking about the savings per round and how long it would take to offset the cost of the equipment. i was thinking about starting with a dillon 550 or a rcbs pro 2000.

i'm planning on getting a dillon 550. i used to shoot 200+rds at the range when i still had my bushy and i went to the range once a week. the savings would have paid off the loader and the other equipment within 2 months for me.
