over the next few weeks i'm gonna be changing my 10/22's configuration
    from this:

to this (poorly done photoshop by me):

the VQ Tension barrel w/ compensator is already on the way, and i'm ordering the scope mount from VQ tomorrow. then i just have to paint my stock gloss black and that's exactly what it'll look like!

What kind of fitting do you have to do for the VQ barrel anyway? I recall you saying something about it.

it's threaded for a VQ superlite receiver. i have to get the threads turned down .006". oh, and right now the stainless steel part is painted OD green, so i have to remove that paint somehow.

gracias. now I need to find a barrel and trigger to see how much this would cost me to complete a 10/22. i want a rifle and this seems like it may fit into my budget right now. looks like an AR and a 10FP will have to wait til i get some more $$$.

if you're going for cheap, it would be better to use a blued 10/22 receiver. parts like blued barrels are cheaper than stainless. keep an eye on the for sale forum at www.rimfirecentral.com . you can usually find a good deal on there. I bought my new barrel that i used in my photoshop off of someone on there for 50 dollars and it only has 150 rounds through it. the same barrel sells from the factory for $306. sometimes you can get lucky and get a great deal.

I told you it would look good in black. Personally, I'd rather paint it matte black.

the same website where i got the pic of the gloss black stock has one in matte black, and i don't think it looks nearly as good as the gloss.

How much did it cost to piece that gun together? Did you start with something as a base and just change parts from there, or is it all different? Which base did you go with if you started with one?

i bought the gun complete as you see it in the first pic. I just bought the barrel that you see in the second pic, and i ordered the scope mount that you see in the second pic. all i have to do after that is paint the stock and it'll look exactly like the second pic.

did you find it on rimfirecentral? i've been lookin in the for sale section but didn't really see anything. i might just end up grabbin the 10/22 special deal on boyds and then if the stock is crap i'll switch it out eventually.
