almost done w/ my ultimate 10/22. now i just have to wait for my VQ THM barrel w/ compensator to come back from VQ. it's gonna look interesting, b/c the lightweight sleeve on the THM barrel is OD green, and the ends and comp are black.

how hard is it to change out that thumb pull and the mag release? I've been thinking about doing it.

there's a lot of people that sell the bolt knob, so that's easy. the mag release is a little more difficult. you have to drill a hole in the existing one and put that one in, but you can also buy those premade. the one on mine is actually the old bolt buffer that was taken out when the new urethane buffer was put in.

nope. stock mags work the best. it has problems with 25 round mags, but just b/c the barrel has a match chamber.

I've got a Green Mountain barrel on mine and it hates the rotary feed. Jams on about every 4th or 5th round regardless of ammo used. I have found that the Butler Creek type stack feed is much more reliable. I think it's just the tighter tolerances in the barrel over the stock, combined with the angle of the feed.

are you sure it's not a sporter chamber? usually, the Bentz chambers will feed the rotary mags 100%, but the high caps, not so much.

That looks awesome. I love the finish on the stock. Does it have some kind of texture on it?

I would really like to know how you did it because I want to paint my thumbhole stock. The grip portion of my stock is a little too thick and my trigger finger doesnt feel comfortable when I fire. So I'm going to sand the grip area down a bit and smooth it out, but of course I'm going to ruin the finish. That looks like just what I need to do.

Oh and I think I have that same Barska on order. :wiggle:

the wood had to many problems for my taste. if the wood was perfect, i woulda kept it. it's Rustoleum Textured paint for outdoor metal, and i used a satin polyurethane for the top coat.
