Losing a little motivation. I have been eating 2000 cal/day or less for the last month, lots of protein, gym 6x week(back/bis, chest/tris, shoulders, legs, rest split), and yet it doesnt seem like i have made much progress.

    Before:
    weight: 198
BF: 20% (as measured by calipers)

    after:
weight: 196 (different time, taken after drinking a lot of water)
bf: 20%, as measured by calipers (through a shirt for some reason :dunno: )

maybe its too early to be looking for noticeable progress? I will get on a different routine once I get back to school in september (upper/lower split 4x week), i just cant do that now because going to the gym almost every day is what is keeping me sane.

ehhh no changes from what i can see.

maybe get someone to take pictures or use a tripod and always take the same type of picture in the same area to ensure that they always look the same.

I agree. You need alot more cardio to ignite that metabolism.

you need to get that up to about 45 minutes atleast. you're only a month into it so no doubt you're probably working up towards that point but try to push yourself everytime you workout/run. don't take that as "ok, i'm going to lift HEAVIER today!" (NOTICE: i do not mean this as lift like a pansy. i mean this as in don't try to go so fuckin nuts with the weight in an attempt to accelerate your gains that you permanently cripple yourself) you'll risk fucking yourself up. i found it easier to be more intense when i did a full body workout instead of splitting it all up. Try doing things like Push-Pull Drills (do a set of pull ups then immediately drop down and do a set of push-ups. Max out on each set X 4) in your workout. Lift in the 8-12 rep weight range.

With cardio, try mixing it up. go for distance/time one day then do sprints another day or put them together if you'd like.

as far as food goes, you know what good food is. eat clean.

id say take a look at that diet as well...2000 calories or less at your size and you will be burning lots of muscle along with the fat

in turn, making you look like the "skinny-fat" guy. up it to about 2600 CLEAN calories a day and keep working out hard. never give up, once the results come in, it will keep you pushing harder.

Don't listen to the people telling you to do more cardio. I'd suggest getting on the modified Bill Starr routine that christophers posted in the archives and really watching what you eat.

Make sure you're eating 6x a day and taking in a lot of protein, complex carbs, and good fats. If you do that, watch your calories, and lift as heavy as you can (lots of complex movements as mentioned above...squats, deadlifts etc), you'll lose fat in no time.

I did the above and I lost ~28lbs in 13 weeks (and I cheated for 1 full week in that time).

    Goddamm right.

Fat loss really isn't that difficult. You simply need to make calories out exceed calories in. You also need to fuel your body and stimulate it adequately to maintain muscle. i.e. eat lots of protein and lift HEAVY weight.

You don't need more cardio at all. It's possible to get down to single figure body fat levels with no cardio.. your DIET is key here.

You're not going to see progress in a month. You didn't get to 20%+ body fat overnight.. it's not going to disappear overnight either. Come back in 6 months and you'll see a big difference.
